For those that can benefit from active load management, it is not enough to be predictive on the market side. We must also be predictive on the process side. Icetec uses predictive modeling for the customer's thermal and power loads.

Rules to follow

Our clients set business and operating rules for Icetec to follow. Some of these rules might include minimum time for a dispatched state such as reduction of a turbine output or discharging a thermal storage device.

Thermal Assets
Chilled Water Storage or Industrial Refrigeration
Icetec accelerates the dispatch through the highly volatile periods, while following the business rules. It is counterproductive to spend the thermal benefit of these assets when the market appears relatively expensive only to have higher volatility in the market later in the day.  

Effective load management in todays energy market requires this predictive approach to both the market and the process.

Cogenerative Assets
In the case of cogenerative assets, both the power and thermal loads are modeled.

Business rules are set.
Real time efficiencies are calculated for auxiliary equipment such as boilers and chillers
An adaptive dispatch plan is established utilizing all plant assets, and fuel types.
